LAOS – Lone Buffalo Computer Lab
The Lone Buffalo English Development Centre is an English tuition and youth development project based in Phonsavan, Laos. The project’s primary focus is providing free English tuition, but the centre is also a multi-faceted project developing sporting skills, managing leadership and life skills programmes and encouraging the creative development of young people.
Our funds will provide a significant upgrade in the centre’s computing and film-making activities, by providing three computers to allow students to develop computer skills linked to the Student Development Programme. In addition, we will fund the upgrading of video equipment and a new processor for the editing IMac, enabling the resumption of student film-making activities.
The new computer lab facility will be used primarily by the 80 senior students in the project’s current ‘Develop Together’ programme along with the 30 students chosen for the Student Development Team. In addition, the projects Student Coffee Co-operative, which develops business skills as well as raising funds, will now be able to better record sales and provide accounts.
Ultimately, over 200 young people at Lone Buffalo will benefit from the new Computer Lab, a facility that will for many of them will help to change their lives.
