Andy Toms
Director and Trustee
At the age of eighteen Andy became a driver and tour leader on a Trans African Expedition - and fell in love with travel and with the African continent. After trying to revert to a more settled lifestyle, with spells as a sales representative for Simoniz and then as Assistant Divisional Manager for Patterson Blick, Andy found himself drawn back to the world of travel, and to Africa. He lived and worked in Kenya and Uganda for many years, operating overland tours through many African countries and further developing his love for the continent.
Andy rose to become MD of the specialist African operator Tracks Travel, a position he held for many years, growing the business, expanding operations to include running fleets of vehicles in both Europe and Africa, as well as marketing the tours worldwide. After selling the company some years ago he now lives in Kent and still retains links to the travel business.
Not surprisingly, given his love of the continent, Andy’s main area of interest in his work with the Foundation is the villages and communities of Africa.
